The People Behind the Ministry

Our Trustees

The Board of Trustees

LightSpace Ministries is part of Grantham Christian Ministries Trust and is governed by a dedicated team of trustees who give their time voluntarily to support the ministry.

Lydia Gallaher

Chair of Trustees

Lydia is a local pastor at Faith Life Church Grantham, where she serves alongside her husband Lee. A mum of three, Lydia has lived in Grantham since 1996 and is passionate about the local community.
“I have firsthand experience of the wonderful work that LightSpace Ministries offers,” says Lydia, “because I work in one of the primary schools the ministry serves. To see the delight in children when the LightSpace team arrives – and to know that they are hearing the message of Jesus in a space where they can freely respond – is something I never tire of.”
As Chair of Trustees, Lydia is the point of contact for complaints, liability matters, and employment or HR issues.

David Lynn

Trustee

David was one of the founding trustees of Grantham Christian Ministries Trust when it was formed in 1984. He is a trustee of several other charities and brings decades of experience in governance and financial stewardship.
“The experience of raising five children gave me the desire to support children’s and youth work for many years,” says David. “I recognise that in an increasingly secular world, children need to be introduced to Jesus. I serve as a trustee to help ensure that the charity can employ a schools worker and attract volunteers who go regularly into schools to tell children about God and his son, Jesus.

Pat Whyte

Trustee

Pat has been involved in what is now LightSpace Ministries for over a decade. Before joining the trustees, Pat spent nearly four decades in the teaching profession – experience that has proved invaluable in the work.
“I am passionately committed to children hearing the good news and ultimately coming to have a faith of their own,” says Pat. “I am a member of the Grantham Open the Book team and I rejoice in the way we can introduce children to the Bible in a gentle way that leads them to explore the meaning of the stories we enact.”

Jane McClelland

Trustee

Jane joined LightSpace Ministries as a trustee in 2026 and is enjoying being part of the team supporting its work in schools and the wider community.
“I am passionate about creating opportunities for children and young people to encounter faith in a way that is engaging, meaningful and accessible,” says Jane. “LightSpace plays such an important role in connecting schools, churches and communities, and I’m excited to be part of a team that is committed to sharing the message of Jesus with care, creativity and integrity.”

Join the Team

We are recruiting two new trustees

We currently have two vacancies on our Board of Trustees and would love to hear from passionate Christians from the local community who have skills in one or more of the following areas: IT, social media, marketing, or fundraising.

Being a trustee is a wonderful way to use your skills in service of a ministry that is genuinely changing lives. Trustees meet regularly to provide governance and strategic oversight, and give their time voluntarily.

Our Facilitator

Phil Caunt – School & Church Work Facilitator

Phil has been working with LightSpace Ministries since 2023 and became School and Church Work Facilitator in February 2025. He is the heart of the day-to-day work in schools, visiting all nine schools and supporting the volunteer teams.

“I have been involved in school ministry since 2011 and have also worked as a Children and Families Worker for a local church,” says Phil. “I am also a Primary School Teacher, so I understand what makes a school tick – and what really connects with children.”

“I love working with children and especially enjoy sharing Bible stories and craft activities that help them engage with what they’ve heard. Every time a child’s face lights up during a story, I’m reminded why this work matters so much.”

Phil is married to Sarah, has three children, and loves gardening, hill walking, board games, and spending time with friends.

Our Volunteers

The people who make it happen

None of this would be possible without our extraordinary volunteers. More than 26 people from churches across the Grantham area give their time, creativity, and energy to make LightSpace Ministries what it is.

Our work in schools and the wider community is made possible by dedicated volunteer teams across Barrowby and Gonerby Hill, Grantham, and Allington. Each team serves in different ways, including bringing Bible stories to life through drama and storytelling, whether as larger groups reaching several schools or smaller teams faithfully supporting their local communities.

We are always looking for more volunteers. There are schools in Grantham and the surrounding villages who have asked for Collective Worships, and we would love to say yes to all of them.
